The VIG center heat transfer consist of radiation transfer and conduction of micro support pillars, gas conduction is eliminated because of the vacuum space.

The insulated glass consist of radiation transfer and gas heat transfer (including conductivity and convection).

VIG heat transfer efficiency is only 25% of normal double glass units with high performance low-E coating.
